Again Rank Novartis' Account Personnel as Best in the Business, Cognet-X, Inc.

FEASTERVILLE---(May 19, 2003)-For the third
consecutive ranking period, the most influential managed care pharmacy
executives in the country have ranked Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.'s account
personnel as the most knowledgeable in the pharmaceutical business, according
to Cognet-X, Inc.
Novartis ranked first in the Knowledgeable
Account Manager/Personnel category, one of several Corporate Assessment
components of Cognet-X's PAR-Rx (Promotional Assessment Research) Report™.
The Corporate Assessments are conducted twice each year, most recently in the
first quarter of 2003.
Novartis also ranked first in meeting pharmacy
directors' Overall Needs as well as in the Value-added Services and Advisory
Board/Seminars/CE Programs categories during this assessment period.
"[Novartis has] long-term credibility with
my plan. I can always count on the rep to do the right thing. Very
knowledgeable about the managed care organization and the industry," one
PAR-Rx panelist commented. Said another: "They can always make it happen;
Novartis' personnel are fair and understand both sides."
Novartis' total Knowledgeable Account Personnel
score, based on Cognet-X's proprietary Scale of Influence (SOI) model, was
nearly 100 points higher than that of second-place Wyeth. In the previous
reporting period, 3Q 2002, Wyeth ranked 11th.
Merck & Co., Inc. was one SOI point behind
Wyeth and ranked third in the knowledgeable personnel category. Merck had
previously ranked second. Aventis Pharma AG retained its fourth-place ranking,
while GlaxoSmithKline's rank declined from third to fifth.
PAR-Rx panelists were also impressed by Forest
Laboratories, which rose in ranking from 17th place in 3Q 2002 to sixth place
in the first-quarter period.
Also in the top 10 were AstraZeneca PLC, Abbott
Laboratories, Pharmacia Corp. and Pfizer, Inc.
